Affordable communal camping in prime location

Orienteering SA has arranged low-cost tent and trailer camping from Thursday 28 March to Sunday 31 March (departing 1 April) at the Monarto Sporting Complex, which is only 15 minutes’ drive from Murray Bridge and next door to Monarto Safari Park.

Approximate driving distance to events

  • 35 minutes to the Prologue at Heathfield High School
  • 25 minutes from the Day 1 Pymton event (Rockleigh)
  • 10 minutes from the Day 2 Ngaralta Country event (Hellenic Gun Club)
  • 10 minutes from the Day 3 Narrinyeri Hills event (Kinchina Conservation Park)

This is not a commercial campsite but a council property which hosts various events and sometimes allows camping. Therefore it it is suited to independent campers accustomed to looking after themselves, with the luxury of wet areas and play equipment thrown in. Note that the locality of Monarto does not have any shops or restaurants, although there is a café at the Safari Park.

The Sports Complex has toilets, showers, barbecues, kitchen and parking facilities. The hall may also be available on request. Parking and toilets are open to the public but there are no other events booked for that weekend.

The details are:

  • Up to 50 campers per night
  • Tent or camper trailers only, no RVs
  • 2 male toilets; 2 female (+wheelchair access)
  • 2 showers – like the toilets, must be kept clean as no Council cleaner will visit over the  holiday weekend
  • Use the bins provided
  • No vehicles on oval
  • No fires – there are shaded barbecues
  • Campers must clean as they go, and
  • leave the site as you find it.

Orienteering SA will provide cleaning equipment to campers. Neither Orienteering SA nor Murray Bridge Council bears any liability or responsibility for anything that happens to campers or their belongings during their stay. Note that it is not possible to provide security at any time of day or night.

FEES

Bookings via through Eventor as a service.

The per-night fee is $10 per adult, $5 per child and $25 per family of two adults and at least one child. You can book between 1 and 4 nights; please indicate whether you will have a tent or trailer when you book.

Many thanks to Murray Bridge Council for their help and support in offering our orienteers this convenient location.
